Book & Ale: Wodehouse

  • The Bechard's 8047 Raleigh Street Westminster, CO, 80031 United States (map)

I say, what ho! I trust you are braced for the upcoming Book & Ale, an evening with PG Wodehouse. That's pronounced "wood-house", as in "every good house has some Wodehouse." We will be addressing his large repertoire by starting with "The Inimitable Jeeves", a collection of short stories that make up an episodic novel about Jeeves and Wooster, the quintessential butler and confirmed bachelor. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe, but you certainly won't end up like Bertie Wooster's Uncle Tom, who always looked a bit like a pterodactyl with a secret sorrow. Perhaps you'll even learn what it means to look like a tomato struggling for self-expression.

You can acquire the volume from any online bookseller, most libraries, and a myriad of open-source websites. The website Freeditorial has an easy-to-read, downloadable, PDF copy. You can read as many or as few of the episodes as meet your fancy and your schedule. So settle in, have a laugh, and then head on over to the Bechard's for what promises to be an entertaining evening with Wodehouse.

Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
