As the South Parish shifts to meeting once a month for dinner, it allows us room to have different kinds of conversations. Such as one around a book! Thus, we're going to take a few nights this fall to read and discuss A House for My Name by Peter Leithart.
If we're honest, the Old Testament can feel like it has a lot of 'weird uncles'...and maybe stories some want to protect their children from until the age of 13? Whether that be due to the amount of gore in the story...or because we ourselves don't know how to make sense of particular Bible stories (ode to she bears in 2 Kings 2). in the Old Testament. Peter Leithart wrote this survey of the Old Testament with us in mind.
So, grab a copy of A House for My Name and take some time to read through this with our parish. On October 10th, we'll spend some time discussing the first 2 chapters, along with seeking to apply what we're learning to one particular text (I'll do some digging!).
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
